Things used most often all night like my E-call Remote, Therm. With my armor I had my M16 mags mounted on the left side cummerbund and a saw pouch with my plrf and m40 mags on the right side cummerbund. Back and side mounted equipment is nice for some applications but if you want to wear a rucksack or ride in a vehicle it become more problematic.
